Slow speed can also come from a controller programming change or a partially seized motor. If new batteries do not fix it, call a technician.
How do I know if my joystick needs replacement?
Replace the joystick if it does not spring back to center, if it drifts and calibration does not fix it, or if the 3-flash error code returns after cleaning and power cycling. A joystick that feels physically loose or wobbly also needs replacement.
